Hour with an instructor & licence sign-off

At MotorGlide, we are a one-stop shop for your bi-annual flight with an instructor and signing your ratings page on your licence for another two years.

Alternatively, we can just sign the ratings page of your licence for an examiner’s fee of £30 if you have already completed your required hours and instructional flights elsewhere.

NPPL - SSEA & SLMG

All Class Ratings on NPPLs have a 24 month validity period.

In order to revalidate by experience you should complete on the class of aeroplanes held:

(a) within the period of validity (24 months) of the rating, have flown as pilot:

• at least 12 hours flight time including 8 hours PIC.
• at least 12 take-offs and landings.
• at least 1 hour of flight training with an instructor. If this flight time has not been completed, the rating will be endorsed ‘Single seat only’.

(b) Within the 12 months preceding the expiry date of the rating, have flown as pilot:

• at least 6 hours flight time.

EASA PPL – SEP / TMG

You can only revalidate a class rating which has not expired.

By Test: Can be completed anytime within the last year of your class rating. The new class rating will be valid for 2 years from the date of expiry of the previous class rating.

By Experience: You must have completed the following in 12 months prior to the expiry for the rating:

12 hours of flight time in SEP or TMG aircraft as appropriate, to include;

• 6 hours as pilot-in-command
• 12 take-offs and landings
• Training flight of at least 1 hour with a Flight Instructor, who must sign your logbook

Note: If revalidating by flying experience, and providing the examiner signs the Certificate of Revalidation page within the 3 months prior to the rating expiry, the validity of the revalidated rating will be calculated from the date of expiry of the preceding rating.

LAPL(A) - SEP / TMG

All Class Ratings on LAPL(A) have a 24 month validity period.

LAPL is based on a rolling currency! In other words… every day you fly you’ll need to check your log book to ensure you’ve completed 12 hours PIC and a flight with an instructor in the past two years of today’s flight (weird I know but it’s EASA way of doing things!).

In order to revalidate by experience you should complete as pilot of aeroplanes or TMG:

• at least 12 hours of flight time as PIC, including 12 take-offs and landings
• refresher training of at least 1 hour of total flight time with an instructor

Holders of an LAPL(A) who do not comply with the requirements shall:

• undertake a proficiency check with an examiner before they resume the exercise of the privileges of their licence.
• or… perform the additional flight time or take-offs and landings, flying dual or solo under the supervision of an instructor, in order to fulfil the requirements of 12 hours flight time as above.
