TMG Rating
Looking to add a TMG rating to your PPL or LAPL? Not a problem!
At MotorGlide, adding a TMG class rating to your existing PPL or LAPL couldn’t be easier! We can take care of all your motorglider training at either of our two bases: Sandhill Farm Airfield or Bicester Airfield, and your TMG skills test will be conducted in house with one of our friendly examiners.
Flying a touring motorglider is an exciting new challenge for pilots used to flying SEP aircraft. While you’ll find plenty of it familiar, there are some important differences that you’ll need to get used to – the hardest part of the training being learning how to land an aircraft with 15 meters of wing!
To add a TMG rating to your PPL(A), you’ll need to complete:
- A course of training
- A skills test
The amount of flying needed to satisfy the ‘course of training’ requirement very much depends upon the candidate; it normally takes around 3 to 5 hours depending on what previous experience you have. You can take the skills test when you feel completely ready.
To add a TMG rating to your LAPL(A), you’ll need to complete:
- A minimum of 3 hours’ flight instruction, including 10 dual take-offs and landings, and 10 supervised solo take-offs and landings
- A skills test
